Got caught by the student getting things ready for school

I was caught finishing up some new felt letters for the felt board. I think the SHOCK was that K never sees me getting ready for school. I have a rule to do this once K is in bed. Some times you just have to break the rules.

Week 01/25 -01/28 2011

This week is a busy week. We start a new song in Music this Wednesday have a few art projects to finish up and all our book work and start the homework routine. Yes even homeschoolers have homework. I love this idea because it teaches student that they are responsible to get things done without it being placed right in front of student. It also allows the other parent (dad) to have a hand in his school work and also see what they are working on learning.

Have a couple of test this week..Math and Phonics test :o)

The night before the 1st day back from Christmas Vacation

I spent my weekend working on getting ready for the month of school. Yes I pull the worksheets and make all my copies that I need the weekend before a new month. Keeps my free time at the end of the night once my student is in bed for me to sit down and relax.

I also have another binder now for Teacher stuff. I am a binder freak for my organizational OCD:o)

What we've been up to

It's been cold in our neck of the woods..OK COLD to us thin blooded people. which my brother says it the best we're like Lizards and we don't know what to do with ourselves when it's COLD. We bundled up but getting off the couch and getting work done took so much energy :o)

K worked on the number families and building numbers from the ones family.

Taken a couple of quizzes and test passing everything with only 1 B

We have a ton of baking this month and as you can see K loves decorating cookies with the whole jug of sprinkles :o)

Our Class Fish named fishy 2...we've had him for 7 weeks now and he's getting big.

After the holidays I hope to get better at keeping up with the blog just so much going on over here with my mom moving to FL from WA and getting things done for her and the holidays school and keeping a house up has my plate overflowing at the moment.

We are now on a SCHOOL holiday from tomorrow until the new year...We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed new year

we're back

We took a few days off last week for Thanksgiving but we are back at book work this week.

This week K has 2 test to look forward to. The 1st one is tomorrow so hope he's ready but it's important to see if he's on track or if we need to slow down or spend some more time teaching the concept.

Other then that we are sticking with our calender which seem to be helping with keeping on track every day. I get lost without a schedule. Nope, I'm not a wing it teacher that's just way too stressful.

We've learned alot this year. Learning to read and write cursive is a lot of work but we are chugging along. We could really use some Barnes and noble gift cards to add to our library of books. We've read every book in our library. Reading is lots of fun and a great way to learn.

How I keep it together

How I keep our schooling together is structure...The calendar shows the daily work and I have another schedule for our twice a week subjects and daily art posted in our school binder but didn't take a photo sorry.

I like to plan out our lunches and snacks makes shopping for lunch stuff easy and I don't have that short order cook feeling. You get what's on the menu.
