On the School front

This week there isn't much happening other then the basics as we wait for the last of our new books to arrive. K starts his Abeka program in 2 weeks when the last of his new books arrive. Right now we are studying Math with Horizons, Reading with Hooked on phonics, Science books from everywhere..We currently are studying clouds as K has been asking me what all the different types of clouds are. We touched on this in the middle of Kindergarten but this year were going more in depth on the study. We have just started our geography for the year with the United states of America..We are going to touch on all the states and some of the main areas on our country's history. K is still learning cooking from getting in the kitchen and helping us when we can. He is going to be back in swim lessons here shortly, tennis lessons and gymnastics lessons and running around in the playyard (our backyard)

Coming in October a lot more posting of our school projects..I'm working on our craft calender now

school year

There is a lot to look fwd to this year with lots of projects and trips planned. K is excited to be a big 1st grader this year. Big changes are coming to our school blog page shortly (Early Oct). I have decided this will be the blog that talks about what we're doing in school and then K will have his class page which will pretty much be a photo page of his work.

We took a Break this week

We have taken a break this week. OK not a complete break but a short break. I injured my foot/ankle this last weekend and well needed a few days of just sitting and doing nothing but rest my foot. Yup a very BAD sprain but no break. I am just glad to be able to walk again. 1st day walking was not even a question I was in a ton of pain. Yeah it hurt but not much you can do about it when you refuse to take narcotic pain medicine. Yeah I just won't do it. Seriously at some point of the night I sat up and held my foot up so wasn't touching anything and once the throbbing went i way I fell on the pillow and crashed for maybe 20 min's then finally i was out for a good few hours. Thank goodness I have a well behaved child to let me sleep in that extra 30 min's. When I got up some popping and clicking and I was walking with less pain but baring some weight. so yeah the past couple of days have been a little rough but I am now able to start getting my foot and ankle moving again. I am on light walking with brace at home only for a couple of days.

School wise we are getting lots of games in like checkers and go fish etc. and lots of math/ time4learning and some reading other then that we've taken the week off.

Muffin Tin Monday

Today we took part of our 2nd Muffin Tin Monday but this is really our 2nd time doing this. We did this last week as well but I ended up forgetting to post about it. I'll post a photo at the end of what we did for last week.

This week we Studying Apples
Today we read Ten Red Apples by Pat Hutchins

in our muffin cups we had a Peanut and butter and nutella apple shape sandwich
with some crackers, apple wedges and apple pastry with a glass of milk.

Last week there was a theme and it was Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Our local Library was out of the book so I went based on the previews of the movie.

See what we had We had Banana Slices PB crackers with some lucky charms, Some Bacon and scrambled Eggs, Spaghetti and meatball and Some mandarin oranges.

The Spaghetti and meatball was a HIT...It's a CUPCAKE

Our Art Corner

Left out is the huge rolls of paper for painting..and the extra paper for the drawing paper stand that sits on the table (IKEA)

Some of our Extras...Most stored out of sight and reach of son due to most being big jugs of paint and glitters.

Manila and construction paper. I use a letter holder to keep the papers neatly put and easy to find when needed.

Found these at Target about 2 years ago which I use on our table near the 4th of July. For the rest of the year they hold markers and such.

Beads and Glue lots of glue that is...Glue is our BF when your in Kindergarten.

our messy bucket of foam art stuff on 1 side and felt and a couple art project kits on the other side.

Everything with paint is in this bin. Aprons, paint shirt, lots of brushes, foam shapes etc..oh and the list of paints Oh my should I tell you them all. OK tempera's, water color, stain (plastic things you hang on the window) puffy paint, glitter paint, poster paint..oh and I think there are a couple more but that is the main paint in there.
